Match Report

A Team

Result: 17-2

The U13 girls have had plenty of court time this week with training on Monday and a match on both Wednesday and Thursday. We welcomed Wellow House on Thursday and though our outdoor court was not playable, both teams were able to play two quarters against Wellow’s A side.

Following their victory yesterday, the A team continued their winning streak with a strong 17-2 win. The game saw St Hugh’s dominate play and despite missing Florence L for this match, the team adapted well, creating some great attacking play. There was some impressive work in the attacking circle, with Millie, Sophie and Jemima adding to the scoresheet. Defensively the team worked hard to deny the opposition space and time on the ball. A solid win.

B Team

Result: 3-2

The U13B match followed and the girls had the advantage of watching their opponents in the first two quarters. Wellow did well against our fresh legs and this game was relatively evenly matched.  We conceded a goal first but the girls fought back and worked hard to transition the ball up court. They grew in confidence when driving for the ball and it wasn’t long before Ela took it to 1-1. Alicia, Megan and Kitty were a driving force in attack and Peyton won us a number of turnovers. With only a couple of minutes to go, St Hugh’s took the lead to win the match 3-2. A well deserved win.
