Match Report

Result:

St Hugh's Blues: This mixed Y3/4 tag rugby team enjoyed a feast of rugby today. We played seven short matches against a variety of schools in a friendly, festival atmosphere. I was really proud of my team as they worked extremely well together - the support for the player with the ball was excellent - and they tagged doggedly throughout the whole afternoon. Handling was very assured too. Excellent teamwork all of you - George P, George G, Taylor, Josh, Freddie S and Gio, who captained the team superbly.

St Hugh’s Reds: With an abundance of match time today, the boys had plenty of opportunity to work together as a team and it was very rewarding to see the progress since their first match of the season against Ranby! Captained by Beau, the team created some great attacking opportunities and became more adept at supporting the ball carrier. In attack, there were some fabulous tries scored with every player adding to the scoresheet. It was lovely to hear staff from visiting schools commenting on how well our boys played as a team, supporting one another and ensuring each player had an opportunity to score. Defensively, the boys organised themselves well and made some super tags to turn the ball over. A great afternoon of sport, well done.

St Hugh’s Whites: We hosted eight tag rugby teams to the St Hugh’s Tag Rugby Festival with four visiting schools (Ayscoughfee Hall, Greenwich House, St George’s and St Martin’s). The round robin format saw every team play each other, which allowed for lots of rugby for all the players. The St Hugh’s White Team captained by George C started the day slowly as they warmed up, but still played some great rugby, finishing with tries from; Charlie S, Edward R and George C. As the afternoon progressed, so did the boys' teamwork. Harry L and Joseph showed some great lines of running supported well by Jonty and George C. Edward R and Charlie S were tagging machines when we didn’t have the ball. When we got the ball back we scored some great team tries and the boys worked hard throughout the day gaining themselves the Rugby Core Values ‘Respect’ Award. Well done!
