U8/9 Rugby v Burton Hathow (H) 2.15pm

All Y3/4 boys will be involved in this fixture. The teams will be published following their games session this afternoon.

Match Report

St Hugh’s U8/9s were represented by two teams (Wasps & Tigers) of equal ability, matched well with similar sides from Burton Hathow. The games were very close affairs with play going from end to end in the blink of an eye which was great to see.

Wasps produced some good passing helped by excellent support play from Joseph F-S, Charlie S and George G. Individually, Hugo H-S and William B went on several mazy runs culminating in scores. Albie C and Barnes N both got involved in the thick of the action and Freddie H showed his class too, weaving his way through for a special try at the end of the first match.

The Tigers were a well organised outfit and were impressively quick with getting into position. Ralph J-B orchestrated many an attack and looked to share possession out sensibly, with Taylor T, Harry L, Freddie S and Harvey K in close attendance carrying the ball effectively. Bertie P and Otto L proved adept at tagging, with Jonty H and Edward V bringing up the rear.

These tight games proved beneficial for all: the older boys had a good runout ready for their contact game later in the week, and the younger ones learned a lot about matchplay situations
