U8/9 Tag Rugby v Ranby (H) 2.00pm

The U8 boys took to the rugby pitch on Monday afternoon for their first friendly fixture of the season. Following an intra-school warm up game the week before, the boys approached this match with great anticipation.

With a squad of 8 players playing 6 a side, they got ample pitch time and it was great to see them setting up quickly at the start and restart of play. The Ranby side were a force to be reckoned with but the St Hugh’s boys worked hard to deny them space and time. There was some super tagging in defence and the team became more adept at working together to close any gaps.

In attack, there was some confidence running with the ball, albeit sideways at times! As the game progressed, the players began to move forwards and support one another to gain ground. There was also some pleasing passing and the team got quicker at off loading, allowing the game to flow better.

A few key areas to develop before our next fixture but a great start for the U8 team! Well done to all players.
