Match Report
U9A 0-5 L
In our final match of the season we came up against a strong Ayscoughfee side. There were few opportunities for us to score but we held them out pretty well in the first quarter, only conceding the one goal - a well struck shot from outside the area. After some rearrangement of our team (Ayscoughfee only had six players to our squad of nine, so we did need to bring on substitutes quite regularly) for the second quarter we struggled to keep tabs on their attacking players and they consequently scored a couple more goals. However, in the third and fourth quarters, we showed good resilience to keep them at bay and only conceded one further goal. It was a battling performance, with the Year 4 players leading by example with their hard work, and the Year 3 players looking promising for next year’s team when they will take the reins as the senior year group.
U9B 2-3 L
It was great to watch the U9 football team in action. I thought it was fantastic to see such versatility between positions, with constant rotations every 5 minutes. The boys worked hard from the first whistle, and it was a close game throughout.
William scored our first goal, bringing the game back to 1-1, and then Barnes scored the second goal, taking us into the lead. Despite our best efforts, the game finished 3-2.
It was a fantastic performance from the boys to finish the season. Well done to everyone involved!
