Match Report
Result: L1-4
Lincoln started very quickly and scored from their first attack. This took us by surprise and it was a while before we fully got to grips with the game. In the first half there were few opportunities to score but we threatened on a couple of occasions. Ralph, Beau and George P battled hard and made headway into the opposition’s half, but also were key in breaking up attacks and making crucial recovering tackles. However, Lincoln managed another couple of goals before the end of the half. The second half saw us compete with great resolve, and though Lincoln scored a remarkable long range goal, our resilience paid off with a fine run and finish by Charlie S. No further goals were scored and pleasingly we remained steadfast in defence until the final whistle.
Result: D2-2
We welcomed Lincoln Minster to St Hugh’s for our first fixture of the season. We mixed two teams to make the fixtures a good experience and match the opposition. We got off to a flying start with the ball pinging around the field from both teams. Minster got onto the score sheet first with a well worked goal. St Hugh’s boys did not back down and responded quite quickly through Hugo hitting the back of the net. Harvey, Joseph and George tackled really well, winning us the ball. Not much was separating the two teams. Then Minster found some space through some strong running with the ball and scored to take the score 2 -1. St Hugh’s continued to play well but just couldn’t hold onto the ball long enough to get a shot on goal. Freddie and Harry both passed and moved the ball well and Joseph found some space in front of goal the ball bounced off the Minster keeper and Hugo was there again to roll it in the back of the net. A really exciting game from both teams and the result was well deserved 2 - 2. Well played boys!
