U9 Football v Ranby (A) 1.45pm
Match Report
The U9A team played two tough matches against hosts Ranby, and Lincoln Minster. Ranby had strength in depth and we found it difficult to push forward. However, they did not find it easy to score against us either - Albie C and Otto L were stalwarts in central defence, and Bertie, in goal, blocked numerous shots. Finally we did break forward as the game went on and Freddie H and George P both made penetrating runs on several occasions. George nabbed a deserved goal towards the end of the match. Final score 1-4.
Minster again proved formidable opponents, though they did seem to be reliant on their academy player for much of the game. Unfortunately we could not find the net in this match, despite several attempts on target. A little bit more cohesion with our passing was needed. Final score 0-3.
On a chilly afternoon at Ranby we started slowly against the hosts who moved the ball quickly and got shots away at ease. We unfortunately couldn’t get into the game after conceding early goals finishing 6-0.
In our second game against Minster after going 1 down early we showed great commitment and teamwork throughout the game finishing 4 - 1 winners. Special mention for Joshua, his work rate was fantastic in both fixtures working hard in defence and attack.
