U9 Football v U11D Witham (H)

Please note that this is a new fixture. Witham are bringing three U11 teams across so to maximise pitch time for all boys we are including our Year 4 boys. Please see downloads for TEAM SHEET.

Result: W 5 - 2

We welcomed Witham Hall to St Hugh’s this week. With their multiple teams we worked hard to accommodate and the U9 (Year 4) boys stepped up to play Witham’s U11D team. The boys were a little apprehensive, but took some confidence from good performances against our Year 5s in training. The game got underway and it wasn’t long till St Hugh’s were on the scoresheet with their first goal through Beau. St Hugh’s continued to apply the pressure to Witham with some good defensive efforts from Edward P and great passing from George C and Joshua M. St Hugh’s were working well as a team and were then rewarded with further goals through Gio, George P and another for Beau. Going into half-time the St Hugh’s boys looked very comfortable, so we changed things up a bit with players trying new positions and being given new challenges to fulfil. It wasn’t too long into the second half when one of the challenges was met. A great through ball from Gio found Edward R and he was able to thread it past the keeper for another score. Witham Hall managed to get the ball behind our defence and scored two nice goals before the final whistle went. A fantastic game for our young St Hugh’s players and they showed some really good team spirit. Well played everyone, great achievement.
