Match Report

Red Team - 5-2W

On Wednesday St Hugh’s welcomed Burton Hathow for the second time this season. The team was made up of 7 girls and their skills and determination they demonstrated against a boy heavy opposition was fantastic. The girls moved quickly down the pitch, utilised space and were quick to pick up loose balls. In training we have been working hard on getting our sticks straight onto balls in the D. Nora demonstrated this beautifully as she hit a loose ball into the goal early on for St Hugh’s. The girls were working as strong units to transition down the pitch and with a huge ball in from Ottilie, Eme was able to tap it in. The goals continued coming with Georgia, Alexandra scoring and Nora getting her second of the match. The effort and progress from the girls individually and as a team was super to see. Huge well done girls!

Blue/Purple Team - 8-0

The mixed year 3 and 4 teams played some great hockey. Burton Hathow were 2 players short so each quarter 2 St Hugh’s girls played for them. The girls played with grit and determination whichever team they played in.  As St Hugh’s were the stronger side, lots of attempts were made to even up the game. In the last quarter the teams were mixed between both schools, this resulted in a more even final quarter with the score of 3-1.
A very positive afternoon of hockey and the girls have made significant progress. Areas to work on are looking up, holding their position and passing into space. (Goals Halle,Florence,Lucy,Iona 3, Sienna, Lola, Tilly 3)
