U9 Rugby v Burton Hathow (H) 1.45pm
Match Report
Result: L 0 - 4
The U9 boys took to the rugby field against Burton Hathow for the last time this year. We agreed to play thirds allowing for some learning and development in between. St Hugh’s won the toss and started with the ball which they moved well but finding space was hard, moving from the right to the left and back again credit to Burton Hathow’s defence. Burton Hathow eventually got the ball and with some direct running managed to squeeze in for two tries before the end of the first third. Into the second both teams played some great rugby. St Hugh’s made some impressive progress up the field but just ran out of touches before the try line. Both teams impressed and this saw the second third as a tie with no tries scored. Into the final third, both teams feeling a little tired due to the efforts exerted in the second but still playing some good rugby this time with touch going to ground and presenting the ball, which both teams did to great effect. Burton Hathow found some space out wide and managed 2 further tries before the final whistle.
What a great afternoon of rugby by both teams. They should all be exceptionally proud the growth and development they have made in such a short space of time. Really proud of all the St Hugh’s boys, well done and Merry Christmas.
