The U9’s travelled to Ayscoughfee on a sunny Wednesday for their match. The team was made up of 5 pairs and each pair played three overs. St Hugh’s fielded first and Anna took an early wicket. The team were supporting each other well and closing down space making it harder for the opposition to score runs. In the third over Harvey took a super catch and Bonnie two wickets. As we moved into the fourth pair Abi caught out a batter and William accurately threw the ball at the wicket whilst fielding. The overall bowling from the team was good and it was nice to see the urgency whilst fielding. Ayscoughfee finished their batting with 310. Next was time for St Hugh’s to bat. William made some excellent early connections scoring two sixes and a four. George hit 3 fours and a six and Harvey three fours. Bonnie and Harvey’s communication improved and supported them in scoring runs. Hugo and Joseph were incredibly successful with their batting, scoring a six, multiple fours and several sneaky runs. The final pair was Freddie and Willow, Freddie scored a six and between them a couple of runs. St Hugh’s ended with a score of 340. Freddie and William were awarded opposition players for their batting skills.
