Match Report
On Wednesday afternoon 10 U8/9 boys travelled to Ayscoughfee Hall for tag rugby. For our U8 boys this was their first away match representing the school. The boys were split into two mixed teams green and pink each made up of 5 players.
Green: 15-11 L
The Green team included Freddie, Edward, Barnes, Toby and Barnaby. Freddie was a fantastic captain using his experience to help the team with formations and coverage of the field. Alongside his strong leadership Freddie had a super game scoring a total of 7 tries. He supported the team well and helped set up success for all. Toby came alive as the game went on scoring his first 3 tries of the season. Barnaby drove over the line to secure another for the team. In addition to the tries the boys worked hard on defense. Barnes and Edward took some super tags which helped turnover the ball. Overall the boys worked well as a team, supporting each other and keeping their heads up. A super afternoon of tag rugby!
Pink: 21-15L
The pink team included Otto, Reuben, Monty K, Jack and Hugo. Otto led the team brilliantly and when asked to reflect on the match his quote was ‘we played really well as a team’. The team work shown on this pitch was fantastic. Otto and Reuben were the top try scorers as they ran incredibly quickly and with power down the pitch. It was great to see the newer players getting involved with tries and tag catches. Jack and Hugo secured tries and Monty left us on the edge of our seats with another narrow miss. Overall a brilliant match and the boys should be proud.
