Match Report
On Monday afternoon St Hugh’s welcomed Lincoln Minster for an afternoon of hockey. All year 3 and 4 girls were involved and it was wonderful to see the progress being made.
Red Team: 3-0
The reds worked well as a team finding space on the pitch to push some fantastic balls towards goal. The team pushed high as a unit making it difficult for Minster to break through. After several attempts at goal just missing and going off the backline, both Lucy and Florence struck the ball on target scoring the first two goals, shortly followed by Lucy scoring their final goal for the team. It was a great team effort from all.
Blue Team: 5-2 W
The blue team (purple bibs) was made up of 6 Year 4 girls and what a match they had. The space they used, determination to chase down the ball and turnovers were fantastic. After each mini match of 6 minutes the girls moved positions and demonstrated their versatility in all positions on the pitch. All the girls showed team work to make ground and get the ball up the pitch. ora scored 3 strong goals, Eme had a clear run from half way and Monaco switched on the speed to give St Hugh’s their 5th goal of the afternoon. Defensively we were strong but Lincoln Minster did have two great shots at goal. Each member of the team played a vital part and should be proud of their contribution to the game. St Hugh’s took the win 5-2 and congratulations to Eme for getting player of the match.
Purple Team: 4-0
The purple team were fierce in attack from the first whistle, looking for space and keeping the ball moving wide and away from the overcrowded middle. The defence kept pushing up the pitch from behind to support as the team attacked goal. With some fantastic attempts at goal from Halle, Tilly and Lana. We finally found the back of the goal with three fantastic goals from Lana and Tilly with a strong accurate strike at goal, another fantastic team effort with each player being vital to the win. Well done everyone!
