Year 5 Farm Visit

Year 5 visited Mr & Mrs Scott’s farm near Chapel Hill to support their learning of the farming topic studied earlier this year. Having been introduced to Wellington the dog, the ‘assistant farm manager’(!), we went round the fields looking at various crops - potatoes, spring beans, wheat, oats, asparagus amongst others - and Mr Scott quizzed pupils about the different parts of the plant and how best to cultivate them.

Highlights of the trip were ‘swimming’ in the grain store, running through the fields of wheat and, of course, the delicious al fresco lunch laid on by Mrs Scott in the woods.
