Match Report

On Friday 6th June we travelled with 8 athletes to Bedford International Athletics Stadium. This event was the qualifying event for our area for the national competition in Birmingham, so all the athletes in attendance had done exceptionally well to get to this point. It was a long day with events taking place from 11am through till 6.30pm. Jemima was first up for St Hugh’s on the track competing in the hurdles, a great performance in some pretty wet conditions. Following this we moved to some field events where Sam threw the javelin in the same wet conditions which really challenged the athletes, and Alastair, our youngest athlete on the day, performed well in the shot put event. Next was onto the pit where Charlie was competing in the long jump amongst a strong field. Back to the track we had a quick succession of events where George competed in the 100 and 200m, Toby competed in the 100m and Kitty competed in the 100 and 200m also. This brought to an end St Hugh’s events on the track. On the field our day was wrapped up with Charles competing in the discus, Toby performing in the shot put and Sam also in the shot put. Results are to follow, but it was a fantastic day of athletics despite the weather. Our athletes performed amazingly well alongside some strong competition and as a school we are exceptionally proud of all their achievements. Well done everyone.
