U11 Netball v Lincoln Minster (H) 2.15pm
Match Report
Result: 9-12 L
This week St Hugh’s welcomed Lincoln Minster for five a side netball matches. It was great to hear the support for both teams and it made an already sunny afternoon even brighter.
The red team played inside and had a strong opposition. St Hugh’s took time to settle into the flow and worked hard on changing direction and moving towards the ball carrier. The girls were in high spirits and it was fantastic to see key skills we have been working on in training be applied to the game. By half time the score was 4-1 to Lincoln Minster and the girls were ready for a strong second half. They did just that and worked the ball well down the court, creating space and making accurate passes. The final quarter was nail biting as it was end to end with goals. Verity, Willow, Hetty and Harriet all scored for St Hugh’s today and it was a narrow defeat with the score ending 9-12 to Lincoln Minster. A close but well fought game to the end. Congratulations to Willow for being chosen opposition's player of the match.
Result: 12-1 W
Mrs Warwick-Smith’s team went out in full force, and it showed. After a strong week of training, the players took to the court with real commitment and determination. It was especially lovely to hear players supporting one another throughout the game, a wonderful reflection of the values we hold so highly here at St Hugh’s.
Defensively, Olivia was exceptional, with very few balls making it past her. Her composure and consistency provided a solid foundation for the team. At the other end of the court, Charlotte C's shooting was on fire, converting opportunities with confidence and accuracy.
The team also demonstrated growing positional awareness and an improved understanding of the game. Players showed maturity in holding onto the ball for just a little longer, allowing teammates to move into effective positions and ensuring ground was made across the netball court.
Overall, it was a wonderful game to watch, with clear progression already evident this term.
