Match Reports
St Hugh's v Greenwich House
A mixed team of eight pupils took to the pitch to play against Greenwich House. We started fielding and were good at closing gaps and getting the ball back quickly to the wicket keeper or bowler. It was great to see that bowling accuracy improved since the start of the season. St Hugh’s managed to put pressure on Greenwich, resulting in 7 wickets. Next it was time to bat. After some super communication and decisions about runs the team were building their score. Charlie had a fantastic connection with the ball resulting in a 4. Well done to all the players for playing a role in the team. St Hugh’s finished the over with a small defeat 243 to 237. Congratulations to Josh for receiving the opposition's player of the match.
St Hugh's Mixed v Greenwich House
St Hugh’s players paired up with Greenwich House to play pairs cricket. It was fantastic to see great sportsmanship from both schools. The pairs worked together against 14 fielders to build as high a score as possible from 6 balls. There were some super hits, wickets taken, fielding and communication from unfamiliar pairings. Stand out has to be Edward P and Maisie (Greenwich House) for their team work to listen to each other and make strategic runs. Well done to Edward P for receiving opposition's player of the match. In addition to pairs cricket some children took part in an inter-school match. Ralph was outstanding in batting, scoring many 6s and demonstrating good game awareness. Harvey took a super catch and the only catch of the game. Well done boys.
St Hugh's v St George's
Nine St Hugh’s players played in a match against St George’s, which was one of their first ever games! Harriet and Maddie were up to bat first and showed some excellent batting, scoring many 4s and runs. St George’s demonstrated some excellent fielding whilst our batsman used communication to score our team some runs. Edward and Gio scored 49 runs in their 4 overs with some great hits from both boys. Soon it was our turn to field having scored 259 runs! Verity and Anna used what they had learnt in lessons and showed some excellent bowling to St George’s batsman. Overall the teams demonstrated some excellent sportsmanship and came out with a score of 259-83.
