Match Reports

Hockey

U9 Team

Result: 7-0 W

The U9s were raring to go for today’s match. They have been working incredibly hard on using the width of the pitch and moving onto the ball and this was our focus going into today’s match. The whole team put in an individual and team effort to be proud of. Their commitment to defend and attack the ball was brilliant and they used opportunities to turn the ball and take to goal. Throughout the match many of the girls scored goals and many players assisted these goals. Anna, Cecily and Holly each scored two and Maya one. The pace of the game was strong and it was wonderful to see the progress in the girls shine through on the pitch. Well done to them all for a super effort.

U10 Team

Result: 8-4 Win

It was wonderful to see the U10s playing as a cohesive team. The game was evenly matched, making it exciting to watch and umpire. Maddie was impressive in defence, making it tough for West Hill to advance the ball to their attacking zone. In our attacking end, Faith and Harriet were on fire, with Harriet scoring yet another hat-trick and Faith netting a goal for St Hugh's. Harriet received the Player's Player award from West Hill Park.

Rugby

Result: 5 - 5 (25 - 25) Draw

We welcomed touring side West Hill Park to St Hugh’s. In the U9 fixture we had four quarters beginning with touch rugby and with each quarter saw a progression towards the contact game which we finished on in the final quarter. Both teams played some good rugby with lots of tries being scored by both teams. The teams had some great individual efforts, but struggled to combine as a team to move the ball into space. By the 3rd quarter West Hill Park were short of a few players and the St Hugh’s boys showed some great character in offering themselves to play for the visiting team. The final quarter we were into tackling and both teams made some great tackles bringing the opposition players to ground safely with control. The tries continued to roll in and we finished with an equal high scoring game. Ralph was voted man of the match by the opposition and the boys agreed that Albie should receive the award for West Hill Park. A great afternoon of rugby, with some good development across all players. Safe travels to West Hill Park and well done to all players involved.
