Austin Open Tennis Event @ Repton School (A)

Please see downloads for TEAM SHEET. Please note the early departure and late return times. This promises to be an exicing day for our keen tennis players.

Report

A group of tennis players travelled to Repton on Wednesday to take part in the Austin Open. Joshua N, Olivia, Beau, Rory S and Edward B had a thoroughly enjoyable day which consisted of tennis coaching, a strength and conditioning session and a tournament. It was a long day but well worth the journey!

Pupils benefited enormously from Repton’s first class facilities and coaching. Players began the day on the outdoor courts with warm up drills followed by a couple of hours of coaching. They learnt a number of tennis specific strength and conditioning exercises in Repton’s state-of-the-art gym. Following this, they enjoyed a hot lunch with some tennis-themed edible treats!

Players were seeded into groups for the afternoon tournament and played in a round robin competition. There was some great competitive match play for all our players which saw them all win some and lose some. They then went on to knock out stages -  a special mention to Joshua who competed in the final but narrowly lost to a very strong Year 5 girl from another visiting school.

Many thanks to Repton for putting on such a great day of sport.
