Black Dyke Band Workshop

On Saturday Y7 pupil Jack C took part in a day-time workshop with the Black Dyke Band, one of the oldest and best known brass bands in the world. Around 100 people attended the day where they were split into groups and tutored by members of the band. Jack also met some composers, including William Himes, who had flown over from America to hear the world-wide premiere of his piece played that evening by the band.

In the evening Jack was allowed into the Cathedral before the public to see the band rehearse for their evening concert, which he then got to enjoy. It was a wonderful day for him to participate in and very inspiring!
