Results: U9 Girls - 2nd, U9 Boys - 3rd, U11 Girls - 2nd

It was a fantastic team effort by the St Hugh’s runners on Wednesday at the Annual Copthill Invitational Cross Country. This event saw between 9-11 schools competing with pupils running over 1.5 and 2.5k courses.

Unfortunately, we did not end up with a full team for U11 boys but our three competitors performed well with Rupert finishing in the top 10.  AJ and Edward B worked hard around a tough course, finishing in close proximity. Thank you to Edward (a year young) who stepped in at the last minute!

In the U11 girls event, Charlotte J (also a year young) led the St Hugh’s contingent and crossed the line in a creditable 7th place, narrowly missing out on a medal. Kitty had a strong run and was our second girl home, making a pleasing contribution to our team score. Our other three runners ran well and battled hard to the end, also finishing in close proximity which gave us a very impressive score. We were delighted to be runners up in this age group!

In the U9 category, both our boys and girls ran well and it was fabulous to be placed in both races! Harriet T and Penelope L led for St Hugh’s and both achieved a top 10 position, with Harriet achieving a medal for 4th place. A very impressive result given she is a year young! Faith also put out a courageous performance helping our team score. Coco and Arabella battled hard right to the end, with Coco finishing just in front of Arabella. A fantastic team effort, finishing as runners up!

In the boys race, following a very fast start, it was Rory P who found his way to the front of the St Hugh’s pack finishing in 6th place and achieving a medal for his outstanding performance. Seb also achieved a top 10 position, contributing well to the team score. Beau had a pleasing run this week, finishing as our 3rd runner - another impressive result as a Year 3 pupil! Edward J and Joshua fought hard, showing great grit and determination throughout. The U9 boys were very pleased to be placed in 3rd position.
