ECB Girls’ National Indoor Cup

On Monday 28th February we were delighted to host the qualifying competition of the English Cricket Board Girls’ National Indoor Cup. Winning each one of our games we are now looking forward to the county finals day later this term!

Our Cricket Coach, Mr Pickering, reports on the girls’ performance throughout the qualifying competition:

“We hosted three local schools in the qualifying competition of the Girls’ National Indoor Cup. We played the first match against Banovallum. It was the perfect start when Penny got a wicket with the very first ball. The girls bowled tightly and there were excellent catches from Ruby, Penny and Beth. Ruby also picked up two wickets. Banovallum finished on 54. We easily passed the score, although we did lose a few wickets to run outs. Penny and Beth both scored over 20 runs. We finished on 104.

The second game was against QEGS, Horncastle. Again, we bowled really well, although we didn't take all our catches we restricted QEGS to just 39. Hatty was the star with the ball taking two wickets. We panicked a little when we batted but eventually got over the line thanks to some carm batting from Penny. We finished on 61.

We batted first in the final game against Somercotes Academy. Sophie and Annabel opened the batting and got us off to a good start. We ran well and also hit a number of 4s and 6s and ended on 127. We restricted Somercotes to 64 with some impressive bowling from Angelina, Freya and Florence.

We won every game and have qualified for the county finals day later this term.”

Well done girls!
