ECB Indoor Cricket County Finals

Following their success at the Regional Qualifiers, the U13 girls were thrilled to attend the County Finals Day which took place at the sports centre in Nocton.

The team played some great matches and were delighted to come Runners Up. Well done girls!

Thanks to Mr Pickering for the following Match Report:

Our first match was against Pembroke Academy. We lost the toss and were asked to bat first. We dominated from the start with India, Sophie, Florence and Amelia being particularly effective. We reached 97 in our 8 overs. We then restricted Pembroke Academy to only 36 with some very accurate bowling from all the players. Won by 61 runs

We then played Stamford and Peyia managed to bowl their best player with the first ball of the game. We then continued to bowl well to restrict Stamford to 73. Unfortunately Stamford’s bowlers were rather fast and we struggled with the bat. Some late resistance from Amelia and Alicia allowed us to get above 30 but we didn't really threaten their score.

The final match was against Sir John Nelthorp. We batted really well, with 5 girls reaching 15 and retiring. Charlotte T scored 11 off one ball by continuing to run as panic set in with the opposition. We finished on 103 for the loss of only 1 wicket. We then bowled really well; I was particularly impressed with  Jemima and Poppy with their bowling and some superb catches from Sophie and excellent wicket keeping from India. We won by 40 runs and came second in the county. A great achievement girls!
