Results: L 1-0 v Town Close, L 5-0 v Framlingham, L 1-0 v Orwell Park, L 5-0 v Felsted, L 2-1 v Gresham’s, L 3-0 v Bishop’s Stortford

The U13 girls travelled to Framlingham College for their IAPS tournament on Sunday night.  They stayed overnight near Ipswich and were well rested before the tournament.

We had Charlotte in goal with defenders of Sophie and Poppy. Our forwards of Amelia, Annabelle, Kitty, Florence and Jemima rotated positions and pitchtime in order to try and keep fresh legs on the pitch.

We played six games in the pool.

Our first game was a cagey 1-0 loss to Town Close from Norwich.

We then played the hosts and we had a lesson in how not to defend conceding five, however our heads did not drop.

We came back well in our next fixture against Orwell Park holding out until just two minutes from the end as we understood that defending as a team and increased energy will make a difference.

Felsted were next and they were a good team and they broke through five times.

Our game against Gresham’s was another close one with just one goal in it and our Captain Amelia scored our goal.

After a lunch hosted in the Framlingham dining hall we played our final game of the day, against the eventual champions. We had watched them earlier in the day and knew how we needed to nullify their attack. The girls worked hard and conceding just three goals was evidence of a day of improvement in understanding of the game as well as improved teamwork.
