Jam, Butter and Toast!
In Forest School, we have been busy foraging for blackberries, haws, sloes and apples to make our own hedgerow jam.
We then prepared the fruit and everyone was given a role – from chopping apples, to official photographer to tour guide (for any new class members). Mrs Bonner-Mackenzie made some beautiful handwritten labels to adorn the jars and we think our work looks very professional!
Going one step further, some classes even made their own butter. Lots of fun was had shaking cream in a jar to separate the fats and buttermilk.
What can be better than toasting bread on the campfire and enjoying it with homemade butter and jam! The older classes have been very happy to taste test the jam!
