Runners up in the ECB County Finals

We were delighted to have come 2nd in the County Finals of the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) Girls’ Indoor Cricket Competition.

This is a superb achievement for our U13 Girls who played well throughout the competition. Our cricket coach, Mr Pickering, reports on their performance in the final competition:

“We had the short journey to Nocton Sports Centre to play in the County U13 Indoor Cricket Finals.

Our first match was against Lincoln Minster School. We started a bit shakily losing two wickets in the first over but we were soon back on track with Penny, Hatty and Beth scoring useful runs. We finished on 97-5 after our 8 overs. We then restricted Minster to 47-7 with all the girls bowling well and some very impressive fielding.

Our second match was against Stamford who had a very fast and scary opening bowler. After a bit of persuasion, Hatty and Angelina agreed to open the batting. It was hard and we lost wickets regularly. Penny batted hard and top scored with 27 before being last out. We finished on 61 runs. Despite bowling well, Stamford passed our score fairly comfortably.

Our final game was against Sir John Nelthorpe School. We bowled first and restricted them to 63. Again, we had a bit of a shaky start when batting but Annabel scored 18 and Penny again came to the rescue scoring 46 not out as we finished on 96 and won by 33 runs.

We finished a very creditable 2nd in the County. Well done girls!”
