Snipe Dales at St Hugh’s

This morning Year 1 went down to the woods with Vicki Bush (Senior Environmental Education Adviser for Lincs Wildlife Trust) to search for bones!  We found (pictures of!) bones from rodents, birds and shrews and then had to attach them to a photograph of each animal.

We dissected owl pellets and found bones including a pelvis, skull, lots of jaw bones, leg bones and vertebrae.  The bones were mixed up with fur so it was a bit messy!! What a lot of new vocabulary!

We then came back to the classroom for a carpet picnic!  Sadly the trip to Snipe Dales was cancelled as the pipes at their centre had frozen.
