Twitchers

The RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch took place last week and Years 1 and 2 had a wonderful time learning all about our feathered friends.

In preparation for the event, the children spent time learning about the birds who visit our gardens, the food they eat and why it is harder for them to find food in the winter months. They looked for signs of birds in the woods and found feathers, tracks, old nests and bird poo.

Everyone had the chance to make bird food using cooked spaghetti and cereal, and built a bird’s nest.

When the time came to identify and record the birds who visited, everyone sat very quietly and extremely patiently in the nature cabin. Well done twitchers!
