Whisby Educational day

On Thursday 17th May Year 3 travelled to Whisby Education Centre where they had a very hands-on, exciting and educational day.

First they were given the task of pond dipping where they saw and caught lots of tiny invertebrates which they emptied into their buckets.  Then they took them inside to examine in more detail so they could match them to their identification chart. According to the children the most exciting part was when the instructor put them under a microscope and enlarged them on a big screen so they could see each individual creature in detail.

After a packed lunch sitting outside, the class participated in a major bug hunt collecting bugs in a variety of ways and then had the task of trying to identify them all.

At the end of the day they were given an artist pallet with a sticky strip on it to collect evidence of their busy day at Whisby.
