On Monday 5th of November, the U13 Girls’ Hockey team travelled to Skegness Grammar School to play in a tournament against 4 other schools.

Our first game was against Barnes Wallis and the girls grew into the games but could not convert their chances.  The 7 minute game ended 0-0 with Grace S impressing on the right wing.

The second game was against John Spendluffe Alford.  We won this game 1-0 with Pippa S scoring the decisive goal after 4 minutes. The outstanding performance of this game was by captain Georgina H who worked hard and linked the defence to the attack.

The third game was against King Edward VI Spilsby. This game was also a quick “smash and grab” as Emily South scored on the back post after 2 minutes and we won 1-0.  The impressive performance was by Kelsey M who worked really hard on the wing marking her player but also running into space.

The fourth game was against Skegness “A”.  The girls were caught napping as a strong team scored after a minute.  However, they then upped their game with goal keeper Ava W dominating her D and restricting their opportunity to score and Pippa S marking their best player out of the game.

Our final game was against Skegness “B” and we won this 1-0 with the decisive goal coming from a short corner as Pippa S struck the ball hard into the bottom right corner after 2 minutes.  The player of this game was Isabelle G with her no nonsense defending and clearing of the ball from the back.

With 3 wins and 1 draw out of the 5 games we came second out of the 6 teams.  Well played girls, we are starting to pose more questions in front of goal.
