U9 & U11 Swimming Success

It was a successful outing for the St Hugh's swimmers on Thursday afternoon. The squad, captained by Helena, travelled to Louth Meridian to compete in the annual School Games event. This included an U9 and U11competition for both boys and girls.

St Hugh's had the title to defend having won both age categories last year. The competition included individual events in all strokes with swimmers swimming 25m and 50m (U11 only). There were also three team events including a 4x25m medley relay, 4x25m freestyle relay and a fun raft relay.

There were some great performances and St Hugh's looked strong across the age groups. Every swimmer competing individually achieved either 1st or 2nd in their race despite some of these being closely fought!

St Hugh's dominated in the team relay events, demonstrating great team work, finishing first in both the medley and freestyle events.

Following a super all round  performance, both the U9 and U11 team were pleased to finish in first place. The U11 team will go on to represent the Coastal area in the county championships next term.

Well done to all swimmers! Thank you to Helena for leading by example and looking out for our younger swimmers. Thanks also go to Mr McDonnell and Leila H for their valuable contribution.
