Match Reports

Red Team

Result: L 159-179

We batted first and started with 100 runs. Beau and Harriet scored 15 runs for 2 wickets. Beau hit two 4s. Verity and Annabelle scored 12 runs for 1 wicket. Charlie and George scored 6 runs for 2 wickets. Gio and Hetty scored 18 runs with no wickets lost. Hollie and Anna scored 8 runs for 1 wicket. Our final score was 159 for 8.

After a quick turn around, we then were in the field and bowled by rotation. In two overs Beau took 2 wickets for a nett -4. Verity took two wickets for nett -2. Harriet took one wicket for 13. Ranby’s final score was 179 for 5.

The overall game was quite close and showed promise for the season ahead. Verity did some super fielding and Beau took a great catch. If we can improve communication between the batters and tighten up the bowling by bowling less wides we have the basis for some competitive fixtures.

Green Team

Result: L240-255

We won the toss and batted first. We tried hard to connect but due to a lot of no balls this was quite challenging. When we did connect we communicated well with our partner and scored a few runs over the innings.

The team fielded well and all the children attempted over arm bowling. We need to work on distance when bowling as a lot were falling short of the batter, so we bowled from a closer position.

Sophia, Taylor and Paul took wickets, some excellent accurate bowling!

Overall for their first cricket game the team concentrated well and worked as a team. Well done all!

Yellow Team

Result: L 269-270

Yellow team was a mixed Year 3 group taking on their first cricket match. They arrived with enthusiasm and were ready to take on Ranby. After winning the toss the team decided to bat first. The pairs worked hard on communication and deciding whether or not to hit the ball and then run. Each pair made runs which was fantastic to see. A special mention must go to Harvey for his batting and some super hits. The team finished with 269 and it was time to field. The players supported each other well and were reactive to get the ball. Lots of practice has been had with bowling and is still an area we are working on. The team got 4 wickets and although all played well, two stand out bowlers were Niya and Emilia. A very close match that ended with Ranby winning by one run. A great game and start to the season. Well done Yellow Team!
