U12 A Mixed Cricket Pairs v Lincoln Minster
Result: Won 258-218
A very excited group of children travelled to The Lindum to play the first fixture in well over a year in glorious sunshine.
The A team was made up of pairs of Ruby & Freya, Dan & Henry, Annabel T & Hattie, Spike & Jackson and Leo & Harry B.
St. Hugh's batted first each pair facing 4 overs:
- Dan & Henry scored 55 and only lost 1 wicket; including 7 fours and 2 sixes.
- Ruby & Freya scored 29 for the loss of 4 wickets; including 1 four.
- Annabel & Hattie scored 31 for the loss of 2 wickets; including 4 fours.
- Spike & Jackson scored 58 for no loss; including 4 fours and 5 sixes
- Leo & Harry scored 25 for 1 wicket; including 2 fours
St. Hugh's posted 258 runs for Minster to chase. (Note in pairs cricket a loss of a wicket costs 5 runs from your total and you start on 100.)
Bowling and wicket keeping in pairs:
- Henry & Dan restricted Minster's first pair to 29 from their 4 overs for no wicket.
- Ruby & Freya held their pair to only 17 and they took 3 wickets, the most impressive being a one handed catch by Henry in the deep.
- Hattie & Annabel conceded 38 runs but took 2 wickets.
- Spike & Jackson conceded 38 and took a wicket against a strong batting pair.
- Leo & Harry conceded 31 but took a wicket.
The best bowling figures of the day were by Ruby who conceded 10 runs in her two overs for 2 wickets, therefore allowing Minster to score net 0 runs from her 12 balls.
Lincoln Minster's final score was 218.
Jackson was awarded man of the match by the opposition.
